Before October of '81

A filk by Murasaki to the tune of Summer of '69 by Bryan Adams

SIRIUS:
I got a real flyin' motorbike.
My uncle gave me the money for one.
I got around everywhere on that thing,
Before I gave it up in '81.

Me and my friend Marauders
Hung out 'til graduation day.
But then Peter made scarce; James got married.
I should have known we'd go our separate ways.

Oh when I look back now,
Those schooldays seemed to last forever.
Oh, when we marauded,
I knew that they'd betray me never.
Those were the best days of my life.

I got kicked out of my house
But that was fine; I stayed with James
He was closer to my than my own kin;
Friendship's so much deeper than family names!

Standin' underneath full moon,
We'd promised we'd be friends forever.
Oh, when we marauded,
I knew that they'd betray me never.
Those were the best days of my life.

Back before October of '81.

Man, we were killin' time.
We were young and restless;
We needed to unwind.
I guess nothin' can last forever, forever, no . . .

Then the times startin' changin';
Dark pureblood wizards started makin' a din.
Then I took that old motorbike,
And brought Peter what was comin' to him!

Standin' underneath full moon,
We'd promised we'd be friends forever.
Oh, when we marauded,
I knew that they'd betray me never.
Those were the best days of my life.

Oh, back before October of '81.

Oh, Harry Potter

A filk by Alexandra to the tune of the British Isles folk song Bonny Portmore.

It is sung by Sirius to baby Harry shortly after his parents have been killed.

SIRIUS:
Oh, Harry Potter, I am sorry to see
Such a woeful destruction of your family
They fought with a valor we won't see anymore
And you saved our world from terror
At the hands of Voldemort

Oh, Harry Potter, your road will be long
And the more I think of you, the more I care, son
If I could stay with you, I would ever more
But a crime was committed, which I will pay for

In the Order, the aurors and workers for light
Cry their hearts out and mourn for their colleagues tonight
For dear James and sweet Lily walk the earth no more
They've crossed over the thin veil
At the hands of the Dark Lord

Oh, Harry Potter, your road will be long
And the more I think of you, the more I care, son
If I could stay with you, I would ever more
But a crime was committed, which I will pay for

Sirius Black

A filk by Gail to the tune of Rocky Raccoon by the Beatles

Now somewhere in the wizarding world of England
There lived a warlock named Sirius Black
One day he old friend turned out to be a spy
Caused the Potters to die, Sirius didn't like that
He said, "I'm gonna kill that rat"
The next day he appearated there
Where this person stood in a Muggle neighborhood

Sirius Black, ready to attack
This man who turned into a traitor
Sirius had come holding his wand
To A.K. him for his betrayal
This person, turned out, was really a lout
For Voldemort he tattletaled
His name was Peter, last name Pettigrew
But Sirius knew him as Wormtail

Was Secret Keeper, knew where James and Lil' were
Now Wormtail knew he was in trouble
Sirius scowled, and then with a growl
He said, "Wormtail, this is a duel"
But Wormtail was sly, "How could you?" he cried
And blasted the street right behind him

Now Sirius Black, he finally cracked
And started to laugh hysterically
Wormtail, he made his escape
Killing several Muggles in his wake
And it looked like, yes it looked like Sirius was guilty

The Aurors came in and arrested him
Sent Black to jail without trial
Put the wrong man into Azkaban
And there Sirius stayed for a while

In Azkaban

A filk by Bootleg to the tune of Heartbreak Hotel by Elvis Presley

The Scene: Sirius whilst he is in Azkaban.

SIRIUS:
We`ll since my best friend left me,
Cause I trusted the wrong man,
I spend my time in my private hell in old Azkaban

I feel so guilty baby,
I feel so guilty,
I feel so guilty,
I could die

Jail`s far from overcrowded,
Most Death Eaters walked free,
So dementors hang around so they can, drain life from me

I feel so helpless baby,
I feel so helpless,
I feel so helpless,
Want to die

Sometimes I think of Remus,
Makes me want to scream and yell
It hurts to think of Harry cause I failed him as well

Still must protect them baby,
Still must protect them,
Still must protect them,
Musn`t die.

1981

A filk by The Final Stillness of Saturn to the tune of 1985 by Bowling for Soup

Padfoot just hit the wall.
He never had it all.
Sirius' parents
Caused his life to be rent.
They wished he'd be spiteful,
But he turned out noble.
Only had one good son.
What did they have to hate fun?

He was gonna be their buddy.
He was gonna be their friend.
He was gonna be Harry's
Favorite, why did it end?
His old friend Peter P. is now the enemy.
Looks at Azkaban life,
And nothing has been all right since

James Potter and Lily
Saved their baby Harry.
Back when he was breaking rules,
While Moony and Prongs ruled Hogwarts School.
Visitors to prison,
They think he's on a mission,
Cuz he's still so hung up on
Year 19- 19- 1981.

He's seen it countless times.
He knows every scene:
The smashed home, Harry orphaned,
Mainly Peter's escape.
He gained a fam'ly.
Why did this come to be?
Thought they'd be around
To make small James and Lilies abound.

Where's the flying bike and the cool clothes?
And when's the time to spend simply insulting Snape's nose?
Why did Voldemort feel they were harmful?
Why can't time rewind, bring back best friends
(In Godric's Hollow where)

James Potter and Lily
Saved their baby Harry.
Back when he was breaking rules,
While Moony and Prongs ruled Hogwarts School.
Visitors to prison,
They think he's on a mission,
Cuz he's still so hung up on
Year 19- 19- 1981.

He hates time; make it stay.
When did Fudge befriend Lucius Malfoy?
And when did Albus become so timid?
Please make this stop.
Stop!
Stop!
And bring back

Jamsie and Lily,
Still with baby Harry.
Back when he was breaking rules,
While Moony and Prongs ruled Hogwarts School.
Visitors to prison,
They think he's on a mission,
Cuz he's still so hung up on
1981.

James Potter and Lily
Saved their baby Harry.
Back when he was breaking rules,
While Moony and Prongs ruled Hogwarts school.
Visitors to prison,
They think he's on a mission,
Cuz he's still so hung up on
Year 19- 19- 1981.

By My Life

A filk by Nicole Lyon to the tune of Stars from Les Misérables

SIRIUS:
There, out in the darkness
A threatening menace
It has begun
It has begun

James, be my witness
I promise you this
I will protect your son
I will protect your son

The Dark Lord has returned
But there are those who will fight back
And those who do follow the path of resistance
Face certain attack

Yet he must fall
This Voldemort fall
By spell
By craft!

James, may you be at rest
Lily at your side
May you be assured
That I will not fail

If I must give my life
To protect him
I swear I will not quail
I swear I will not quail

I was not there for your son
I was intent
On vengeance
And in my great fury
Sorrow and anger
I threw away my chance!

Now he must fall
This Voldemort fall
By spell
Or craft!

And so it must be and so I will see
This fight all the way to the end
I will not falter
I will not fail
Harry
This time

James, I swear to him
That I will see him
Safe from this strife
I will never rest
Till then

This I swear
This I swear by my life!

Breaking His Habit

A filk by Fyre to the tune of Breaking The Habit by Linkin Park

SCENE: Sirius has just found out that Peter betrayed James and Lily to Voldemort. And, after seriously contemplating this, Sirius decides to go after Peter and kill him

SIRIUS:
Horrors consume
Like making a new wound
It's tearing me apart again
Wrongly assumed
They were safe inside their room
But then he had to start again

I don't want to be the one
This choice he had to choose
But now I have to set things right
Before a murderer runs loose

[CHORUS]
I know just what I'm fighting for
And why I have to scream
But why did Pettigrew instigate
And make me be so mean
I don't know how he got this way
I know this cant be right
So I'm breaking his habit
I'm breaking his habit
Tonight

Why's there no cure
I must now lock the door
It's time to catch my breath again
He knew much more
Than anyone before
Why must I have to fight again?

I don't want to be the one
There is so much to loose
I can't believe he has to die
Why am I so confused?

[CHORUS]
I know just what I'm fighting for
And why I have to scream
But why did Pettigrew instigate
And make me be so mean
I don't know how he got this way
I know this cant be right
So I'm breaking his habit
I'm breaking his habit
Tonight

Blood splattered on the walls
Peter's the one at fault
He'll never live again
'Cause this is how it ends

[CHORUS]
I know just what I'm fighting for
And why I have to scream
And now there is some clarity
That explains my reasoning
Why did it have to end this way
I know it's just not right
But I'm breaking his habit
I'm breaking his habit
I'm breaking his habit
Tonight

Azkaban

A filk by Jake A Ralphing (Luke Brattoni) set to Eminem's Rabbit Run

SIRIUS
Numb haze: I just want to leave this cell of fear.
Cold steel pikes, I'm surrounded by a hell in here.
These dementors suck my life out, thoughts are seldom clear.
No highlights, just pain for twelve whole years.
In this cold must, I'm so pale and don't smell revered.
A mental veil cast on this jail, they leer,
Dementors hoarding my nostalgia near.
Vile, they jeer as they suck out barrels of tears.
I yell, it sears.
All I hope is to get out, until then peer
At this pic of the Weaselys in the Daily Prophet.
Oh well, that's queer…
That old rat- it's no other than my pal appeared.
I was in stellar trouble cuz that fella killed himself.
Left behind a little finger, spelled away in stealth.
Down a grill he left, through the walls he crept.
I wept, mourning over James and Lily's death.
And then a load of cops came, grilled my chops.
'The clink for this dude, won't stand trial, just bail 'im up.'
Cell inmates moan a lot, a goner wailing lots.
Full-grown mullet that is dusty and filled with crusts.
Still I clutch, to the hope that I'll get out.
Lose them, yet, I'ma take the island route.
Why in doubt-
That I'll fail to fool these three,
Dementors who guard me so art-fully.
Too hard? My heart is marred cuz mind is weak,
Fool-all those blinded guards with my hide-and-seek.
They'll never find me with my neat canine body,
Pelt of curls, as black as night disguises me.
I got fleas to fight but I'm free from sight,
Y'all I flee through night.
And my plight is find that despiteful parasite.
Traitorous, now I'll really kill him, set things right.
Yeah, I'll bite and bite and bite…
To smite that pathetic dude.
You farker Pete Pettigrew!
I'm dark light dim light. Run through this shack that shrieks.
This Black, a knight here who'll just hack Pete to vapour.
I'm destined in my quest.
If I could just get assistant witnesses up, confessing.
But they won't come. Praying and hoping for just one.
Oh great, here comes Lupin!
Nope, not good enough, he's a werewolf.
Too bad people scorn lycanthropes, get scared off.
I'm merely a puff of nightmares, a bare myth.
All that I hold dear is Harry's welfare and love.
I evade the prying eyes of Snape.
Try to guide Ron safe past this place.
Whomping Willow hits in a rage.
Underneath, I prowl the dark.
It tastes inspid when I nip his leg. I growl and bark.
My, a witch at Quidditch, Golden Snitch.
Harry Potter saw me sit there,
Now he's startled, mouth open.
Hermione gets the bloody whole thing wrong.
She's so wholesome and young.
Yep, a smart witch but watch your tongue!
A melee of speech… now Snape's incensed.
He hates me, sees me and makes with his crazy rants.
But the kids listen to our tale of awful moments.
Make a decision and they care for lawful closure.
And now we are turnin' on that hairless ball of vermin.
He cowers, but just like a Firebolt, we're burning.
Um, Remus is teethin' on us.
A minor setback, Pete's shrinkin' on us.
Through Forbidden Forest.
They got Black, save me, tied up under key and lock.
Buckbeak- what? Twice that they've freed me from wrath!
Gotta leave this dock, time to lift my pace,
But I'ma come back, godson, with gifts and much thanks, witch.
In ground or ditch I'm gunna stay alive.
Just survive and hide, soon a goner in Book Five.
Yeah, I got a dream and I have hatched a plan.
I will flash past as fast as NASCAR.
Azkaban.

A Man Named Black

A filk by Lindsay Addison to the tune of A Boy Named Sue by Johnny Cash (several verses shorter than the original)

SIRIUS:
Well, I hit Azkaban in eighty-three,
And that didn't leave much hope for me,
Just my innocence and knowing my trial was crap.

Now I blame Peter 'cause he ran and hid,
But the meanest thing that he ever did
Was before he left, he stabbed James in the back.

Well, he must have thought that it was quite a plan,
And it showed he was Voldemort's left-hand man.
But I knew it was just a coward's attack.

Some dementor would come by and I'd get sad,
And I never grew up and that was bad--
I tell you, life ain't easy for a man named Black.

So I hatched my plan and when I was free,
I wanted to see how Harry would be,
And I was glad to find he was just like James.

But I'd made me a vow to the moon and stars
That despite the kid with the special scar
I'd kill me that man
Who went and blacked my name.

Well at the Shrieking Shack sometime in May
I'd just caught Peter and my temper was frayed
Harry wouldn't let me do what I had schemed.

Yeah Lupin was there and Snape too, and they
Had qualms and they got in my way.
Yeah, life ain't easy for a man named Black.

Well I knew that the real snake was Voldemort,
But the moon was full and Lupin's time was short,
And thanks to Harry I got away on Buckbeak's back.

Now I won't forget and if I can
Someday I will find that sneaky rat-man,
And I'll look at him and I'll say,
My name is Black, I made it back!
Now you're gonna die!
(Yeah that's what I'll tell him.)

So I sent Harry letters and I kept in touch,
But for a lonely guy that's not much,
And then I donated my house and I'm ready to crack.

See, I was young and smart but then I got framed
And I couldn't stop from being defamed,
Losing and wasting years stuck in jail that I can't get back.

Now I'm stuck inside, I can't even spy,
I just sit here, mope and poke Snape in the eye,
'Cause life ain't easy for a man named Black.

What can I do? What can I do?
My family's a mess, the Order won't use me,
I want to go fight and they just refuse me,
So I come away feeling there's something I lack.

And I think about Peter now and then,
Every time I want to help the Order win,
And if I find him again...

spoken

I'm going to hex him, curse him, make him pay--
Whatever I do!

I still hate that guy!

Breaking Away

A filk by Prankaholic to the tune of the same name by Avantasia

SIRIUS:
Time to escape
I saw The Daily Pro
And there was the rat who faked his own death long ago
Now is my chance to go before it is too late
Wormtail better wait

Must go to Hogwarts school and kill that traitor somehow
I've meant to leave this place in sometime and that time is now

Breaking away
Now I must hurry and break away
My crime's known in every nation
Must live up to that reputation
And can't wait
Breaking away
Now I must hurry and break away
Oh - My crime's known in every nation
Must live up to that reputation
And won't wait

Always been inprisoned, lost twelve years of my youth
Didn't get a trial 'cause they thought they knew the truth
And now it's payback time, must kill a guy I hate
Wormtail better wait

Muct go to Hogwarts school and hide in Shrieking Shack
The teachers and the pupils will never know who is back

Breaking away
Now I must hurry and break away
My crime's known in every nation
Must live up to that reputation
And can't wait
Breaking away
Now I must hurry and break away
Oh - My crime's known in every nation
Must live up to that reputation
And won't wait

Breaking away
An unregistered dog is all they will see
They'll never know when I pass by that is me

Breaking away
Now I must hurry and break away
My crime's known in every nation
Must live up to that reputation
And can't wait
Breaking away
Now I must hurry and break away
Oh - My crime's known in every nation
Must live up to that reputation
And won't wait

Sirius Black

A filk by Mariner to the tune of Jangling Jack by Nick Cave

Sirius Black, common sense he lacked,
Ditched the secret-keeper job,
But he was on the wrong track,
Gave the job to Pete,
Said, "You know what to do,"
Pete ratted him out
To You-Know-Who.
Sirius Black and Pete
Dueled in the street,
Pete got away
And Black took the heat,
Though he didn't do it, he didn't do it.

Now, Sirius Black, blamed for the attack,
Got sent to Azkaban,
Where he went a bit cracked.
Huddled in his cell,
While Dementors drooled,
Till he found out Pete
Was at Hogwarts School.
Said, "I must escape
From this pile of rubble,
Better do it on the double,
'Cause Harry's in trouble."
Changed into a dog
And quickly made tracks,
Became a fugitive,
Did Sirius Black.

Sirius Black
Didn't do it, didn't do it
Sirius Black
Didn't do it, didn't do it.

Sirius Black comes to Hogwarts School,
Prowls outside the grounds
Like a big Grim ghoul,
Terrorizes Ron
Without meaning to
While tring to kill
Peter Pettigrew.
Sees the frightened school,
Sees Harry and friends,
Says to himself,
"Pete's life must end,
And I will do it, and I will do it."

Well, Sirius Black
As a matter of fact
Meets up with Harry and friends
In the Shrieking Shack,
Reunites with Lupin,
Exposes Pete,
Looks like Sirius Black
Has landed on his feet,
But then Snape butts in
And Peter scrams,
So Sirius Black
Goes back on the lam,
Though he didn't do it, he didn't do it.

Sirius Black
Didn't do it, didn't do it
Sirius Black
Didn't do it, didn't do it

Black's On The Run

A filk by Gail to the tune of Band On The Run by Paul McCartney

SIRIUS:
Sentenced without trial
Locked inside Azkaban
Never feeling nothing
Nice again
My fault, Harry
Ohhh...my fault...ohhh

Somehow have to get out of here
Then I'll run off to Hogwarts school
Commit the crime for which I was blamed
And kill that rat Pete Pettigrew
Yes, I have to get out of here

Chorus:
When the Wizarding World heard of the news flash
Well, everybody felt stunned
The Minister said to the Ambassador
"Tell them he has a gun
Black's on the run, Black's on the run"
And there was mayhem at M.O.M.
How was his escape done?
And now Black's on the run, Black's on the run
Black's on the run, Black's on the run

Well, the Headmaster was feeling mad because
The Dementors they had come
But he permitted them to stay on the school grounds
To protect James Potter's son
Black's on the run, Black's on the run
Sirius Black's a maniac
Killed Harry's dad and mum
And now Black's on the run, Black's on the run
Black's on the run, Black's on the run

Black's on the run, Black's on the run
Black's on the run, Black's on the run

Well, when Black was caught Dumbledore spoke to him
And a second chance he gave
With a little help from a Time Turner
Two lives that night were saved
Black's on the run, Black's on the run
Both Cornelius Fudge and Snape with his grudge
Where fooled by Dumbledore
For now Black's on the run, Black's on the run
Black's on the run, Black's on the run

Rat On The Run

A filk by Jason LeBouef to the tune of Band On The Run by Paul McCartney

SIRIUS:
Stuck inside these four walls
Sent to rot forever
Looking at the paper
Him again

Pettigrew… Hogwarts
Pettigrew… Hogwarts
Pettigrewww

Synth solo: Imagine Sirius as Padfoot slowly sneaking out of Azkaban and finding his way out

Know a way to get out of here
Can't let Pettigrew get away
Gonna show them all to see
James and Lilly he did betray

Know a way to get out of here
Know a way to get out of here

Music speeds up: Fast forward to the Shrieking Shack

Well they finally found me in the Shrieking Shack
And accused me what I've done
And I tried to explain to everybody there
I never was the one

Rat on the run
Rat on the run

And Harry P and Ron Weasley
Had me under the gun

For the rat on the run
Rat on the run
For the rat on the run
Rat on the run

Well the DADA teacher cast a heavy spell
Causing Scabbers to transform
And Peter begged me not to take his life
`Cause he knew he'd been outdone

Rat on the run
Rat on the run

And Harry P and Ron Weasley
Had me under the gun

For the rat on the run
Rat on the run
Yeah the rat on the run
Rat on the run

Well our group was walking as a bright full moon
Began to come around
And I changed to Padfoot as Lupin a were-
Wolf, Wormtail fell to the ground

Rat on the run
Rat on the run

And into the woods… up to no good
He'll go help Voldemort

Oh the rat on the run
Rat on the run

Azkaban

A filk by Jonathan Pessin to the tune of Africa by Toto

Scene: SIRIUS BLACK is sitting in his cell, shivering and listening to the howls of the other inmates. Suddenly, drums and guitars start playing as he looks up to see Minister Fudge outside the door.

SIRIUS:
I hear the screams echoing tonight
Just because the inmates can't hold cogent conversation.
And Fudge comes in to view my plight
And hands to me the paper that will guide me toward salvation. I see an old rat upon the Ron,
Who's hoping to find some chance to find his boss and kill the Potter boy.
And in my sleep I mumble on, "Hurry man, he's waiting there for you."

SIRIUS transforms into a dog and, slipping out of his cell, swims to shore. As he surfaces, he howls (in English)

It really took a lot to get me away from you.
It's something that no other prisoners could ever do.
I left Dementors down in Azkaban.
Gonna save the kid and kill the rat the Weasley had.

PADFOOT stalks down Magnolia Crescent, hoping to get a glimpse of Harry. As he spots the boy lugging his luggage, he sings:

A skinny dog crawls into the night
As I grow restless longing for some my little Godson's company.
I know that I must do what's right
Sure as Wormtail was a dirty rotten traitor to his friends and me.
I see my godson glance at me, frightened of this thing that I've become

It really took a lot for me to get back.
It's something that no other prisoners could ever do.
I left Dementors down in Azkaban.
Gonna save you, kid and kill the rat your buddy has.

Instrumental break, during which SIRIUS travels to Hogwarts and most of the school year occurs. He spots Ron and Scabbers outside Hagrid's hut, and goes nearly mad with anticipation

Hurry man, he's waiting there for you

It really took a lot for me to get back to you.
It's something that no other prisoners could ever do.
I left Dementors down in Azkaban.
Gonna save the kid and kill the rat the Weasley had.

Lonesome Fugitive

A filk by Richard to the tune of Merle Haggard's Lonesome Fugitive

SIRIUS:
Down every path there's always someone waiting,
I'm on the run, a rocky cave is my home.
Got accused of murdering, sent to Azkaban,
My mama's portrait screamed all night and day.
Now I'm a hunted fugitive, no justice to me,
Outrun aurors or spend my life in jail.

I'd like to raise my godson, but they won't let me.
I guess that I could be-a rollin' stone.
Down every path there's always someone waiting,
I'm on the run, a rocky cave is my home.

I'm lonely, but I can't afford the luxury,
Appearing as a dog to everyone.
I'll lure Harry to-The Shrieking Shack,
There I'll take him home when we are done.

I'd like to raise my godson, but they won't let me.
I guess that I could be-a rollin' stone.
Down every path there's always someone waiting,
I'm on the run, a rocky cave is my home.
I'm on the run, a rocky cave is my home.

Mr. Black, You Made a Fine Marauder

A filk by Tann to the tune of Mrs. Brown, You've Got a Lovely Daughter by Herman's Hermits

Mr. Black, you made a fine Marauder.
Quite the team, were Moony, Prongs, and you.
But it's sad -- you went to Azkaban --
Pete blew the Muggles up, and blamed you for the crime.

Your best friends were James and Lily Potter:
You told them to switch to Pettigrew.
Things went wrong -- he went to Voldemort;
He sold the Potters out, and blamed you for the crime.

Dressed like a hound, you'll find your way out, but
If you are found, they will suck your soul out.

If you find that Peter's gone to Hogwarts, (He's at Hogwarts…)
You go, too, and don't lose any time. (Any time…)
He's with Ron (oo-ooh…) -- they call him 'Scabbers' now -- (oo-ooh…)
You served the sentence, may as well commit the crime.

Dressed like a hound, you can walk about, but
If you are found, they will suck your soul out.

If you find that Harry needs a father, (Needs a father…)
You'll be there, but not quite at this time. (Not this time…)
Just get gone (oo-ooh…) -- fly off on Buckbeak now -- (oo-ooh…)
They've got Dementors there, to nick you for the crime.

Mr. Black, you made a fine Marauder. (Fine Marauder…)

Mr. Black, you made a fine Marauder. (Fine Marauder…)

Mr. Black, you made a fine Marauder. (Fine Marauder…)

Mr. Black…

Fled Azkaban

A filk by Jake A Ralphing (Luke Brattoni) to the tune of Jerusalem

Black smelled defeat. "It's changin' time!"
Snuck from Dementors foul and mean.
And was then holed up as a dog.
Stayed hidden, cuz he can't be seen.

Went out and found Harry one night,
Fright for godson, in clouds of black.
So he fled Azkaban, ended here.
Went on, embarked to magic shack.

See Potter go for Snitch of gold.
Grim causes terror, traumatised.
The dog he fears? Plot twists unfold!
It is old Sirius disguised.

We learn the beast just wants a bite,
With an old buddy, Ronald's rat.
Black used his stealth; fled Azkaban.
To just kill Peter. That is that.

Me and Wormtail Down by the Schoolyard

A filk by Ginger to the tune of Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard by Paul Simon

Sirius, in his tropical paradise, recalls his escape that fateful night in PoA...

SIRIUS:
The werewolf Marauder pulled out a map
As he waited for his libation.
When the rat came out, he began to shout
And he ran to his old habitation.

Running from the law,
I's running from the law,
What the M'rauder saw:
Me running from the law.

Old Sevvie came down and put Harry down-
Said it all coulda been prevented.
And Fugde said "Oy, When I get that boy,
I'll make good and sure he's demented."

I'm on my way.
I don't know where I'm going.
I'm on my way,
As Beaky will fly, he will take me there.

Goodbye to Hogsmeade,
Cuz one lone Marauder
Saw me and Wormtail down by the schoolyard.
Saw me and Wormtail down by the schoolyard.

The hours seemed like days
When they locked me away,
But Hermione gave time a tweak.
And when the magical beast
Flew to get me released,
Well, my smile made the Top Ten of "Witch Week".

What Could His Motives Be?

A filk by Mariner to the tune of What Does He Want of Me? from the musical Man of La Mancha

Why did he do the things that he did,
Why did he do these things?
How could he send Snape to the Willow to die,
Why suspect Remus of being a spy,
Why switch with Peter in such secrecy,
Oh, what could his motives be?
What could his motives be?

Why does he act the way that he acts,
Why does he act this way?
Slashing the Fat Lady, injuring Ron,
Trying to throttle his only godson,
Maybe he suffers from PTSD...
Oh, what could his motives be?
What could his motives be?

Was he a rake?
Did he just make a tragic mistake?
All these Sirius mysteries keep
Me awake.

Why won't he feel the things that he should,
Why won't he feel these things?
Isn't he sorry for what he has done,
Does he still think that the Prank was good fun,
When will he offer an apology?
Oh, what could his motives be?
What could his motives be?

I'm Dreaming Of A Black Christmas

To the tune of Irving Berlin's I'm Dreaming Of A White Christmas

NOTE: Obviously written well before Book Five

THE SCENE: Gryffindor Commons. HARRY says goodbye to his fellow students as they depart for Christmas break. Left alone, he dreams of what might have been had his Godfather's innocence been legally established.

HARRY
I'm dreaming of a Black Christmas
A family I've never known
Catch the Hogwarts Express
To meet Sirius
And head for our magic home

I'm dreaming of a Black Christmas
A tree festooned with fairy lights
Butterbeer we'd share through the night
While Hedwig could keep herself in sight

I'm dreaming of a Black Christmas
Oh, how our joy would be increased!
Just us two old bachelors
With our wands and spatulas
Would serve up a Yuletide feast

I'm dreaming of a Black Christmas
All 'round my bed the presents stacked
But the world's so far out of whack -
Will I ever spend a Christmas day with Black?

HARRY sighs deeply, and exits to his room. Enter, after several seconds, a brightly-colored tropical bird, bearing a card and an immense beribboned package. After a moment's hesitation, the bird darts into HARRY's room.

Not While I'm a Hound

To the tune of Not While I'm Around from Sondheim's Sweeney Todd

THE SCENE: Pomfrey's infirmary. We discover Harry, half-asleep, once more convalescing following a traumatic encounter with Dark Powers. Sirius, in the form of PADFOOT, stands guard over him. Sensing Harry's restlessness, PADFOOT sings him a lullaby.

PADFOOT
Nothing's gonna harm you
Not while I'm a hound
Nothing's gonna harm you
No, sir
Not while I'm a hound

DEs are prowling
Everywhere
Causing hurt
I'll just start growling
I'm aware
And alert

No one will attack you
No one's gonna dare
You've got Sirius Black who'll
Make 'em scurry.
Whistle, I'll be there

Wizards who'll hex you
With their worst
Evil curse
I'll disperse
Nothing can harm you
Not while I'm a hound

Cave canem, I will ban 'em
Do they think I will slumber supine?
That won't occur
Not with this cur
You're aligned now with this ol' canine
Not to worry, Son….

Prongs, my old pal, you would be proud
If you only knew
How your son fought brave and unbowed
He's so much like you,
Your son…..

Nothing's going to harm you
Not while I'm a hound
Nothing's going to harm you, Harry
For I'll stand my ground.

Darkness is rising
Once again
In full force
They will flee fast if
A mastiff
Stays their course

No one's gonna vex you
None will take that chance
Dark Lords may perplex you
Not to worry
I will take my stance

Wizards who'll hex you
With their worst
Evil curse
I'll disperse
Nothing's gonna harm you
Not while I'm a hound………

Harry falls into a deep sleep as the song ends. Iris out on PADFOOT, maintaining a vigilant watch.

House of Black

A filk by Gail to the tune of I'll Be Back by the Beatles

SIRIUS:
I ran far from here as a young man:
The House of Black offends
Disgrace of Number Twelve Grimmauld Place
But I've come back with friends

Mom's angry so-o-o
She calls me a Blood Traitor
No wonder that I hate her
O-o ho, o-o oh, oh

Now Molly's reminding me how
I was locked in Azkaban
And Snape just makes me want to escape
But I don't think I can

I'd much rather not stay inside
But since I'm wanted by the law
Then Albus Dumbledore
Told me that I need to hide
O-o ho, o-o oh, oh

They keep going out while I stay
But I want to help them
I'd like to get back my motorbike
And be of some use then

I want to go-o-o
They tell me I shouldn't
They say that I'm impudent
O-o ho, o-o oh, oh

No doubt, I can't wait 'till I get out
From the House of Black, but when?

House of Black

A filk by Mariner to the tune of My Home Town by Tom Lehrer

SCENE: SIRIUS, in a sarcastic mood, serenades his childhood home.

SIRIUS:
I can't believe my luck
To once again be stuck
Here at the place that really takes me back,
Reliving carefree golden days of youth
At House of Black

The portrait of my Mum,
Who thought I was a bum,
Is shrieking till I fear the walls might crack.
And we can't figure out a way to shut her up
At House of Black

I remember Reg,
My perfect little brother,
Never gave his parents bother,
So they said.
He joined Voldemort and ended up quite dead.
The silly little twit
Really thought that he could quit.

It's quite a sight to see
Our ancient family tree:
Pure blood for fifty generations back.
My name's been stricken from it ever since I left
The House of Black.

My cousin Bellatrix
Knows lots of dirty tricks
Death Eater was her chosen career track.
(This is a children's book, so I can't say what I really think of her)
At House of Black.

And then there's the elf,
My mother named him Kreacher,
He's a vile and nasty creature, that is clear.
Always muttering abuse where I can hear.
I'd like to give him clothes
And a good punch in the nose

I feel a useless lump,
Locked up here in this dump,
Evicting doxies from the bric-a-brac.
Yes, it's enough to make a strong man go insane
At House of Black.

Padfoot's Mum

A filk by Terra to the tune of Stacy's Mom by The Fountains of Wayne

REMUS:
Padfoot's mum, she makes my bowels run
Padfoot's mum, she makes my bowels run
Padfoot's mum, she makes my bowels run
Padfoot's mum, she makes my bowels run

Padfoot, can I come over after lunch? (after lunch)
So that you're not lonely so much (lonely so much)
So, how is the cleaning coming along? (coming along)
Finding things that you seriously hoped were long, long gone? (were long, long gone)

You know, I'm not as jumpy as I used to be
But what's making that sound, a crazed Banshee?

Padfoot's mum, she makes my bowels run
She's all insane and has never seen the sun
Albus, can't you see, this portrait is scaring me
I know I'm not alone, yeah, I'm afraid of Padfoot's mum

Padfoot's mum, she makes my bowels run
Padfoot's mum, she makes my bowels run

Padfoot, do you remember when I rang the bell? (rang the bell)
Your mum started screaming like bloody hell (bloody hell)
Her yellowish complexion filled me with fear
And the way she shrieked, "You let those Mudbloods in here?!"

And I know that a painting's just a fantasy
But when this is all done, you're going to need therapy!

Padfoot's mum, she makes my bowels run
She's all insane and has never seen the sun
Albus, can't you see, this portrait is scaring me
I know I'm not alone,
Yeah, I'm afraid of Padfoot's mum

Mrs. Black's Little Helper

A filk by Nina Bott (aka the J. K. Rowling Stones) to the tune of Mother's Little Helper by the Rolling Stones

Scene: Sirius Black sits alone, surrounded by empty firewhisky bottles, at number 12 Grimmauld Place

SIRIUS:
What a drag it is staying home.

"Half-breeds, mutants, freaks!"
My mother's portrait shrieks
And I have to shut the shades to calm her down
And though he cannot reach her
There stands her little toerag Kreacher
Do I have to share my shelter with my mother's little helper?
He lives to serve the house of Black - I'd like to get him off my back.

There's a battle I should fight
But I must stay out of sight
That's Dumbledore's decision - such a drag
The Ministry's got me wrong - but they think I'm in Hong Kong
Still, why must I share my shelter with my mother's little helper?
I throw mother's things away, and he brings them back each day.

Why not fetch me some firewhisky?
This is such a bore - I'll drink four more
What a drag it is staying home.

When Harry was still here
I had a little bit more cheer
He reminds me so much of my old friend James
My family's a disgrace - that is why I hate this place
Do I have to share my shelter with my mother's little helper?
But if I did let him go, he'd betray us all, I know.

Why not fetch me some firewhisky?
This is such a bore - I'll drink four more.
What a drag it is staying home.

Kreacher bows to me each time
As he calls me blood-traitor slime
Says I'm not fit to wipe my mother's boots
And I'm thinking to myself, I can't trust this crazy elf
Do I have to share my shelter with my mother's little helper?
He'd love to help me on my way right to my dying day.

Old Mother Black

To the tune of Wernher Von Braun by Tom Lehrer

SIRIUS:
Picture this while I sing you of Old Mother Black:
Quite long one would voyage all
Through both Bosch and Bruegel
To find a Munch-kin with a shriller attack
"What did that pig meant?" screams Old Mother Black.

Don't call her ravings Draconian
Say rather she's Francis-Baconian
"If a Mudblood drops in, I'll make subtle wisecracks:
'You'll boil in oils!'" shouts Old Mother Black.

She's had harsh words ever since I came back
She's rather more grislier
Than famed Mother Whistlier
Like the Saturn of Goya who on his sons snacked:
Who's garnered approval from Old Mother Black.

Soon, I'll make a stick charm ban, though
And my mum will away in a van go
"You'll find me on sale, 'midst Dark Arts bric-a-brac
Here at Borgin & Burkes," cries Old Mother Black.

Purity

A filk by Murasaki to the tune of Respect by Aretha Franklin

Tonks knocks over the troll leg umbrella stand, the curtain flies open, and Mrs. Black's portrait begins to sing.

MRS. BLACK: What I want
if you don't got it
What you need
you know I got it
So now I'm yellin'
For a little pure blood in my home!

CHORUS OF OTHER PORTRAITS ALONG THE WALL: Just a little bit.

MRS. BLACK: Hey, halfbreeds!

CHORUS: Just a little bit.

MRS. BLACK: In MY home!

CHORUS: Just a little bit.

MRS. BLACK: Mudblood!

CHORUS: Just a little bit.

MRS. BLACK: You are gonna desecrate everything that I hold great.
You are gonna desecrate . . .

CHORUS: Ooh . . .

MRS. BLACK: . . . everything great.

CHORUS: Ooh . . .

MRS. BLACK: So now I'm yellin'

CHORUS: Ooh . . .

MRS. BLACK: For a little pure blood in my home!

CHORUS: Just a little bit.

MRS. BLACK: Mutants!

CHORUS: Just a little bit.

MRS. BLACK: In MY home!

CHORUS: Just a little bit.

MRS. BLACK: Filth!

CHORUS: Just a little bit.

MRS. BLACK: I never said you could take over my place,
But now that you're here, there's one thing to face:
This issue of the pure blood,
In MY home!

CHORUS: Just a, just a, just a, just a . . .

MRS. BLACK: Creatures of filth!

CHORUS: Just a, just a, just a, just a . . .

MRS. BLACK: In MY home!

CHORUS: Just a, just a, just a, just a . . .

MRS. BLACK: Scum!

Sirius rushes in with the noise to attempt to silence her. She sees him and her eyes bulge and she pales. She begins to sing to him accusingly.

MRS. BLACK: Ooh, my firstborn!

CHORUS: Ooh . . .

MRS. BLACK: Back from Azkaban!

CHORUS: Ooh . . .

MRS. BLACK: And, no less,

CHORUS: Ooh . . .

MRS. BLACK: Part of this rotten plan!
So now I'm yellin' oh so loud
For some pure blood in my home!

CHORUS: Pure, pure, pure, pure . . .

MRS. BLACK: You bloodtraitor!

CHORUS: Pure, pure, pure, pure . . .

MRS. BLACK: I disowned you!

CHORUS: Purity!
Just a little bit.

MRS. BLACK: Get out of my home, now!

CHORUS: Purity!
Just a little bit.

Sirius and Remus rush to cover the portrait with the curtains. Craning her neck to peek out, she continues to sing loudly.

MRS. BLACK: P-U-R, I-T-Y,
What it takes to get inside.
P-U-R, I-T-Y!
It's my house; that is why!

Oh . .

. CHORUS: Sock it to me, sock it to me, sock it to me, sock it to me . . .

MRS. BLACK: A little pure blood.

CHORUS: Sock it to me, sock it to me, sock it to me, sock it to me . . .

MRS. BLACK: Shame of my flesh!

CHORUS: Just a little bit . . .

MRS. BLACK: A little pure blood!

CHORUS: Just a little bit.

MRS. BLACK: Abominations!

CHORUS: Just a little bit.

MRS. BLACK: Degenerations!

CHORUS: Just a little bit.

MRS. BLACK: I'm running out of patience!

CHORUS: Just a little bit.

MRS. BLACK: Dirt and vileness!

CHORUS: Just a little bit.
Pure, pure, pure, pure . . .

MRS. BLACK: In MY home!

CHORUS: Pure, pure, pure, pure . . .

MRS. BLACK: . . . ity!
Or you might find my elf . . .

CHORUS: Purity!
Just a little bit.

MRS. BLACK: Will blow your secret!

CHORUS: Just a little bit.

MRS. BLACK: I got to have!

CHORUS: Just a little bit.

MRS. BLACK: A little pure blood in my home!

CHORUS: Just a little bit.

I Can Never Go Home Anymore

A filk by Murasaki to the tune of the song by the same name by the Shangi-Las

This filk assumes that Sirius's "Uncle Alphard" is Andromeda's father, which may or may not be the case - but that's not the point

Andromeda rushes in and hugs Sirius, looking very distraught.

ANDROMEDA:
I've been kicked out; I've been disowned.
I've just run away.

Sirius pulls her face up to look into his.

SIRIUS (shocked): You, too?
(Sadly) Now you can never go home anymore.

Andromeda shakes him off.

ANDROMEDA:
But it's okay. Doesn't this sound familiar?

SIRIUS (beneath Andromeda):
Oooh . . .

ANDROMEDA:
You go to school like they ask you,
But you're in the wrong House.
You hold dissimilar views,
But you keep quiet as a mouse.
Among your siblings, you're lonely;
Your family brings you no joy.
Then, for me, came a miracle-
A boy.
And that's called "glad."

SIRIUS (still beneath, listen intently):
Oooh . . .

ANDROMEDA:
Now, my parents didn't approve,
Though I loved him with all my heart.
They said I wasn't to marry one without pure blood,
And the boy and I would have to part.
And no matter how I ranted and raved,
I screamed, I pleaded, I cried.
They told me if I married that Muggle-born,
They'd treat me as if I had died.
And that's called "bad."

Flashback of rest of the Black family, those not disowned (Andromeda's mother, Sirius's mother and father, Regulus, Bellatrix, and Narcissa), pointing to a cowering Andromeda in the doorway of her house..

THE REST OF THE BLACK FAMILY:
Never go home anymore . . .

Back to present; Andromeda continues to sing to Sirius.

ANDROMEDA:
That's almost what happened to you, isn't it?

SIRIUS (in agreement, still beneath):
Oooh . . .

I packed my clothes and left home today.
Of my whole family, only Dad begged me to stay.
And you know what he said?
He said he'd love my anyway.
Even if I married Ted,
He'd still sing to me and say:

Flashback of Alphard Black and Andromeda cuddled in her room, hugging each other, Andromeda crying.

ALPHARD:
Hush, little baby,
Don't you cry.
Daddy loves you anyway . . .

Back to present. Andromeda covers her ears and shuts her eyes.

ANDROMEDA:
Daddy!

THE REST OF THE BLACKS (echoing in her head):
You can never go home anymore...

ANDROMEDA:
Daddy!

THE REST OF THE BLACK FAMILY:
You can never go home anymore . . .

ANDROMEDA:
Don't you get the feeling,
That love is more than family name?
I think so- Dad still loves me just the same.
So I'll run away, too, Sirius;
You've always been my friend;
And for supporting you and me,
Even Daddy got kicked out in the end.

Flashback of the rest of the Blacks standing over Alphard in the same way they did Andromeda, pointing accusingly.

THE BLACKS:
Never!

Back to present, Andromeda sighs and leans against Sirius.

ANDROMEDA:
And we can never go home . . .

THE BLACKS:
Never!

ANDROMEDA:
. . . anymore.
But it doesn't have to be "sad."

You and Sirius in the Hogwarts Schoolyard

A filk by Murasaki to the tune of Me and Julio Down in the Schoolyard by Paul Simon

REGULUS BLACK:
One morning my mama rolled out of bed
And went to the room of my brother.
When Papa saw as well he began to yell.
I knew the reason why; there could be no other.

My brother ran away; oh yes, he ran away.
Mama didn't need to say, but he ran away.

Now Mama looks down and spits on the ground
Every time his name is said.
And Papa says, "Oy, when I get that boy
I'm gonna hex him 'til he's practically dead."

Now I'm joining up; I'm gonna be a Death Eater.
Now I'm joining up; they said they were proud and I'm better than him.

Goodbye Andromeda, you went the way of my brother.
But I still see you and Sirius in the Hogwarts schoolyard.
I still see you and Sirius in the Hogwarts schoolyard.

A couple of years after I joined the Death Eater chapter
It began to get a little intense.
My lack of radical ways began to number my days
And I was killed by those I thought were my friends.

Well, I joined up; I was gonna be a Death Eater.
Well, I joined up; they said they were proud and I was better than him.

Goodbye Andromeda, you went the way of my brother.
It should have been you, me, and Sirius in the Hogwarts schoolyard.
It should have been you, me, and Sirius in the Hogwarts schoolyard.

Lion in Snake's Clothes

A filk by Murasaki to the tune of Candle in the Wind by Elton John

Kreacher sings of his devotion to and grief over his preferred of the Black sons.

KREACHER:
Goodbye, Little King,
Kreacher barely knew you at all . . .
You had the strength to right your wrongs
While those around you stalled.
Not yet even out of Hogwarts
Ere they whispered into your brain;
You joined up with the Death Eaters,
For to save your family name.

And it seems to be you lived your life
Like a lion in snake's clothes,
Always serving those above you
Though your heart opposed.
Kreacher would have liked to have saved you,
But he was just an elf,
Bound to obey your last orders
As you sacrificed yourself.

His orders were clear:
You volunteered Kreacher with pride,
But then so mad you grew one night;
Somehow something changed inside.
Though Kreacher could help--
He'd use powers of the elf--
You wouldn't see Kreacher hurt,
And all of it you drank by yourself.

And it seems to be you lived your life
Like a lion in snake's clothes,
Always serving those above you
Though your heart opposed.
Kreacher would have liked to have saved you,
But he was just an elf,
Bound to obey your last orders
As you sacrificed yourself.

Goodbye, Little King,
Kreacher barely knew you at all,
You had the strength to right your wrongs
While those around you stalled.
Goodbye, Little King,
From the house elf to whom you were a kind master,
Who sees you as something more than a failure,
More than just a branch of Toujours Pur.

And it seems to be you lived your life
Like a lion in snake's clothes,
Always serving those above you
Though your heart opposed.
Kreacher would have liked to have saved you,
But he was just an elf,
Bound to obey your last orders
As you sacrificed yourself.

Bound to obey your last orders,
As you sacrificed yourself.

Lily's Eyes (OoP )

A filk by Motone to a song of the same name from The Secret Garden

SIRIUS:
Strangely quiet, but now my mum
Simply rests to strike again
Standing, waiting, I see his face
I see her eyes

LUPIN:
Strange, this Harry, he leaves the room
Yet listens, Extendable ears
Something stirs me to think of her
I think of her

SIRIUS:
From death she casts her spell
From death, secretly spies
For now a boy has come who has her eyes

He has her eyes
The boy has Lily's green eyes
Those eyes that saw him happy long ago
Those eyes that gave him life
And hoped he'd never know
The darkness that killed her and
Destroyed those green eyes

LUPIN:
He has her eyes
The boy has Lily's green eyes
Those eyes that closed and left us all alone
Those eyes I feel will never ever let us go
How can we see this boy who has her green eyes?

In Lily's eyes shone happiness
In the darkest hour
And though she fought with all her might
She crumpled from his power

SIRIUS:
He has her eyes
He has his mother's green eyes
Those eyes that loved my best friend and their son
Those eyes that shone ferocity
And loved her one son
And held him close
To live at last with Lily's eyes

LUPIN:
Imagine me, a werewolf

SIRIUS:
I longed for the day
She would defeat Lord Voldemort

LUPIN AND SIRIUS:
Would God had let her stay

SIRIUS: (sung simultaneously with LUPIN)
He has her eyes
He has Lily's green eyes
Those eyes that Potter loved so
How can
I now forget
That once she dared
To fight against the Dark Lord
It's Lily's eyes
It's Lily's eyes

LUPIN: (sung simultaneously with SIRIUS)
He has her eyes
His mother's green eyes
Those eyes that saw him happy long ago
How can
I now forget
That once she sacrificed her life
And he's alive
With Lily's eyes
With Lily's eyes

God Rest Ye Merry Hippogriffs

Falcona, Katana, Etana, and Aeterna, proudly present the actual (meaning: imagined) lyrics that Sirius sang in OOP. So here it is, all ten glorious verses. Enjoy!

SIRIUS:
God rest ye, merry hippogriffs,
For Kreacher is at bay.
My godson, Harry Potter
Is here this holiday
To save me from this gloomy hole
And join us in the fray!
Oh, and maybe we'll plot against Malfoy,
Against Malfoy,
Yes, and maybe we will plot against Malfoy!

In Grimmauld Place, in London town,
My mother she did moan,
For me and several Weasleys,
We were living in her home,
And breaking all her relics foul,
Till spit from her mouth did foam...
Now, let us all plot against Malfoy,
Against Malfoy,
Now let us all plot against Malfoy!

From Dumbledore, our leader,
An important message came,
To stay inside my family house,
Which really was a pain.
I was stuck with a mad house-elf
But since my godson's here again,
I can help him to plot against Malfoy,
Against Malfoy
I can help him to plot against Malfoy!

The Christmas feast is coming soon,
And happily I'll join,
For surely Molly's recipes
Will never disappoint,
And maybe in my pudding,
I will bite into a coin!
And then we will plot against Malfoy,
Against Malfoy,
And then we will plot against Malfoy!

Oh, Malfoy is a fiendish git,
And none will disagree.
He has a rather boring wit,
Insulting those he sees
As underlings below him
That obey all his decrees,
So let us all plot against Malfoy,
Against Malfoy,
So let us all plot against Malfoy!

Now what to do to dear Malfoy?
No one deserves it more.
Old Moody took the best idea
Bounced Malfoy off the floor.
But we can think of something better
If we think hard, I'm sure.
So what is our plot against Malfoy,
Against Malfoy? Oh, what is our plot against Malfoy?

"Fret not, my friend," said Remus,
"For a plan I can invent,
We'll sneak into the owlery
And swap Malfoy's present
For a really scary boggart
Which might make the brat repent."
And that is our plot against Malfoy,
Against Malfoy,
And that is our plot against Malfoy!

So let us go to Hogwarts
And seek this Malfoy lad.
Our plot is formed, our plans are laid
To make the fellow mad,
For we are the Marauders
And there's mischief to be had!
Let us carry out the plot against Malfoy,
Oh, what joy!
Let us carry out the plot against Malfoy!

And when dear Draco opened,
His present sans delay,
He was quite shocked to see,
A ferret that was gray!
For that is what the boggart is,
To Draco's great dismay!
And that is our plot against Malfoy,
Against Malfoy,
And that is our plot against Malfoy!

And Malfoy with a face that was
Insanely fun to see
Took up his quill and wrote a note
Home to his family
Asking them if this was their
Idea of jokery!
Oh, such fun it is to plot against Malfoy
Against Malfoy
Oh such fun it is to plot against Malfoy!

I Must Get Out Before I Die

A filk by R.J. Lupin to the tune of Going Through the Motions from Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Once More With Feeling.

This song is sung by Sirius during the summer before OotP, all about his feelings about being stuck inside 12 Grimmauld Place.

SIRIUS:
Ev'ry day and night
The same old routine
I just sit inside the house
And I wanna scream
'Cause this is lousy
Used to have it bad?
No, I'm going mad

Remus says I should sit and be good
But does he think I could?
He says to "concentrate on house work,
Not talk like a jerk"
Can't he see that I'm going berserk?

I was always live-
-Ing life the fullest
Adventures were all about
Now my life's so bland
That I would shout
"Hey, look here, I'm dying!"
SNAPE:
So how's the cleaning?
SIRIUS:
Snivellus, GET OUT!

SNAPE:
Wasn't my report
The type of sort
That makes me important?
'Cause I've been out there risking my life
Hoping for my luck
You just sit around, relaxing-

Unable to take Snape rubbing in snide comments, Sirius grabs a candle and jabs Snape "down there" with it

SNAPE:
- F***!

SIRIUS:
Will I clean this house as I sigh
I just want something new to try

Snape points over at a cabinet

SNAPE:
And you missed a spot-

Sirius grabs a wand laying on the table and points it at Snape

SIRIUS:
Stupefy!
I know that I'll rot...

Sitting in the hell worse
Than my prison cell
So what's there to do?
And how will I get through?
I must get out before
I die

Padfoot on their Minds

A filk by L'il Teagan to the tune of Heaven on their Minds from Lloyd Webber's Jesus Christ Superstar

DUMBLEDORE (in his study)
My mind is clearer now -
At last all too well I can see thanks to my Legilmency.
If there was away to spare the boy from this path
Don't want him to be possessed, by Voldy -

Scene shifts to Grimmauld Place, The Kitchen

HARRY:
Sirius!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can't let you believe the things Snape says of you -
Do you really think I believe the stuff he says is true?
And the reason for you're escape will soon be pushed away -
To me you know you matter more than what people say!!!

Listen Sirius I don't like what I see,
All I ask is that you listen to me -
And remember I've been your best friend's son all along

LUPIN:
We have set them all haywire-
They think Harry's a big fat liar-
And soon enough they'll find they're wrong

I remember when this whole thing began-
No Azkaban - and you were James' best man
And believe me - my admiration for you hasn't died

HERMIONE:
But every word Harry says today - gets manipulated some way-

RON (under his breath)
And Umbridge hurts him 'cos she thinks he's lied

LUPIN:
James and Lily's famous son
Should have stayed a great unknown
Like his father in every way
Quidditch he does play!

Mischief Managed! Acing tests!
Would have suited Harry best
He would cause nobody harm -
No one alarm!

FRED AND GEORGE:
Listen Sirius - we do care for you, mate

HERMIONE:
But don't you see you must stay in this place

MOODY:
There's a ton of spies - Have you forgotten how watched we are?

FRED (to George)
You know I really hate that Snape

RON: (aside)
Much prefer the squid from the lake

HERMIONE:
And the Ministry is waiting 'til you to wander too far
Please don't go too far…

HARRY:
Listen Sirius to the warning I give
Please remember that it's with you I wanna live

HERMIONE (to Ron)
But it's sad to see his name weakening with ev'ry paper

MOODY
All this emotion they could find…

LUPIN:
Too much Padfoot on their minds

RON:
School was great, but Umbridge turned it sour
Yeah she turned it sour
Ah - - -ah

HARRY:
Listen Sirius to the warning I give
Please remember that it's with you I wanna live
So come on - come on
Please listen to me
Ah - - - ah
Come listen to me
Listen
Just listen to me
Ah - - - ah
Come on listen to me

Sirius!

Curse

A filk by Richard to the tune of Hook by The Blues Travlers.

The scene: Sirius comes down from feeding Buckbeak just in time to start questioning Kreacher about who he was talking to in the fire. He finds out it was Harry, and takes his chances with trying to contact him. The verses are sung from Sirius's point of view, while the chorus, Harmonica solo, and everything else after that is sung by Harry.

Doesn't matter what I say,
Long as I wave my wand well.
It makes you feel that I convey,
Some inner truth of vast evil.
But I've cursed nothing so far,
I can keep it up for as long as it takes.
And it don't matter who you are,
If you're doing a curse, it's my resolve that breaks-

Because the curse killed you, Black
I ain't telling you no lie-ie…
The curse killed you, Black
On that you can't deny-y-y…

There is something amiss,
I am feeling misery.
In fact I don't see-any of them,
They've gone to Department of Mysteries.
Confused the image within his head,
Playing hero, rescue me,
Oh Lord how he's not yet dead,
I hope he gets a hold his prophecy

Repeat Chorus - Harmonica Solo

Be coy be coy be coy
If you're Lucius Malfoy or Gilderoy
Make a desperate move to kill the boy, then
Begin to see what you're doin' to me
This prophecy is not for free
It's so deadly it's killing me
So desperately I cry to thee
Sirius-
Oh, also rage and pain and hate and fear of elves
I can't keep this prophecy on the shelf
I've tried, and Voldy knows I've lied
Could be my own suicide
But I've got to much pride inside to hide
Or cry
I'll do as I'll decide
And let me fly till I've died and only then shall I abide this tide
Of catchy little spells
Of hip three-minute hexes
I wanna bust all your cauldrons I wanna burn the Whomping Willow to the ground
I've found out what it's about
And now I'll play, then hey
Wouldn't want to go down this way

So I'll say a prayer for that's really all this was
For feelings that I keep inside
I know my godfather died because the-

Curse killed you, Black
I ain't telling you no lie-ie…
The curse….oh, yeah….
On that you can't deny-y-y…

Last One Standing

A filk by Star Opal to the tune of Last Beautiful Girl by Matchbox Twenty from the Mad Season album

HARRY:
I saw you go through
Helplessly I watched you fall
Always the way
Everyone seems to leave
Can't bring you back

Now every fool in town
Believes what I said
I can't replace
All those wasted times
The knowledge of the mirror - can't help thinkin'

Maybe if I would have just opened the stupid present
Where would you be
A thousand lost chances
And the promises of a family you gave me
Only now sinking in

You won't be the first - Marauder dead
You won't be the last - Friend to leave me
Bellatrix Lestrange - I won't forget
Even if I'm the last one standing in the world

So tell me Dumbledore
How you're sorry about the way
This all went down - you needed to "protect" me

You needed to keep him "safe"
Same for me too
Kept me from the truth, like in a prison, I believed in you totally
Thought you would solve it all
Losses I have, will sustain, murder its destiny
Here's what I'm feeling

He wasn't the first - Marauder dead
He wasn't the last - Friend sacrificed
Damn you Voldemort - I won't forget
Even if I'm the last one standing in the world

Last one standing in the world

Its begun now - I'll go on without
Because I'm everyone's last hope
Seems all the time - They die for me
Everyone's last hope
Everyone's last hope

I saw you go through
Like Cedric suddenly gone
Dark Lord used me
I just want it to end
All be over

He wasn't the first - marauder dead
He wasn't the last - Friend sacrificed
Damn you Voldemort - I won't forget
Even if I'm the last one standing...

He wasn't the first - marauder dead
He wasn't the last - Friend sacrificed
Damn you Voldemort - I won't forget
Even if I'm the last one standing in the world

Through The Veil

A filk by Pixieberry to the tune of No Such Thing by John Mayer

HARRY:
"Welcome to Grimmauld"
He said to me
resentfully
"What a treat.
Please take care
Past my mother's portrait there.
Every time so much as a
Floorboard creaks,
Horrid shrieks."
I'd like to think Fudge'll exculpate
Him instead of
Misconceive.

Albus told him
"Stay inside and hide."
Now he's waiting
On the Other Side.

I wanna run through the
Halls of the Ministry.
I wanna scream at the
Top of my lungs
"I can't believe he's
Through the veil and he's gone now;
The godfather
That I came to love."

So the good boys and girls
Forget Sirius Black
Faded flash back
Two way mirror
Now it's shattered
I'm so frustrated
Cause I can't get the answers.
Here without my parents
I'm getting older
I wish I could have
Said goodbye just one last time.
I'll relive memories
Of the tragedy.

Albus told him
"Stay inside and hide."
Now he's waiting
On the Other Side.

I wanna run through the
Halls of the Ministry.
I wanna scream at the
Top of my lungs
"I can't believe he's
Through the veil and he's gone now;
The godfather
That I came to love."

He was invincible
When he was alive.

I wanna run through the
Halls of the Ministry.
I wanna scream at the
Top of my lungs
"I can't believe he's
Through the veil and he's gone now;
The godfather
That I came to love."

I just can't wait
Till I get back to Hogwarts
I'm gonna scream out
At Dumbledore.
And when I stand in
His office before him
He will know what all this rage is for.

The Dog Was in Danger

To the tune of The Cat in the Cradle by Harry Chapin

THE SCENE: The grounds of Hogwarts, on the final day of Year Five. Enter HARRY.

HARRY:
When I met Black, he was a fugitive
They called him a killer who'd no quarter give.
But I learned the truth in the Shack one night,
And I risked my life so he could take flight.
And as he soared to his freedom, I heard him add:
He said:

SIRIUS
Your father, you're so much like him, lad
You know you're so much like your Dad

HARRY:
And the dog was in danger but he dodged the doom
From dementor robes 'neath a werewolf moon.
When you comin' back, Black?

SIRIUS
I don't know when, but we'll get together soon.
We'll live as son and father soon

HARRY:
The next year Black was still a fugitive
But he gave to his Godson all he had to give
Closest thing to a family I ever had
He was partly brother and partly Dad

As he walked away changing back to a Grim
He said:

SIRIUS
James'd be so proud of you, yeah
You know that you are just like him

HARRY:
And the dog was in danger but disdained the doom
He's at my side after Riddle's tomb
Can you stay with me now?

SIRIUS
I don't think so, but we'll get together soon
We'll live as son and father soon

HARRY:
Well, it's one further year, and still a fugitive
Black's returned to his ancestral home to live.
A place to serve as the Phoenix HQ
But a place that Sirius so hates too.

SIRIUS
What I'd really like, son, is fighting DEs
I said:
This house is like some grim disease, son
And Kreacher elf I won't appease

HARRY:
And the dog's in no danger and his days are dim
It seems that no one has a need for him.

SIRIUS
Shall we rendezvous, son?

HARRY:
I don't think so...

SIRIUS
......I guess you're not quite James' son
He would have found the danger fun…

HARRY:
Then the Dark Lord preyed upon my pride and hate
That I gave him liberty to orchestrate
The peril we were facing was mighty grave
Then Black et al. arrived the day to save
But Bellatrix saw the veil and she blasted him through
She said:

BELLATRIX
It's been fun making sure you're dead
It's been so nice murdering you

Enter LUNA LOVEGOOD, who has overheard all of HARRY'S soliloquy

LUNA:
And the dog met the danger, as a man he died,
He's not truly gone, he's still at your side
When you have a need of him
You'll here him say:

VOICE OF SIRIUS
You so make your father proud, son

VOICE OF JAMES POTTER & SIRIUS
You so make both your fathers proud…..

Babe in the Cradle

A filk by The Final Stillness of Saturn to Cat in the Cradle by Harry Chapin

SIRIUS:
A child arrived just the other day.
He came to the world in the usual way,
But there were friends to save, and deaths to stay.
He learned to walk while we were away,
And you were stalked before I knew it. As Harry grows,
I know he's gonna be like you, James.
I know he's gonna be like you.

And the babe in the cradle's against You-Know-Who.
Death Eaters came under light of the moon.
When can I see you, James? I don't know when,
But you were my greatest friend.
I know that Peter turned you in.

REMUS:
Harry turned ten here in the last year,
And then Hagrid was sent to bring your boy here.
He asked me to teach him. I said, "Have no fear,
Just use a Patronus," and it was a deer.
And he walked away, and his smile never dimmed.
Thought "Boy's gonna be like him, yeah.
I think he's gonna be like him."

Now the kids from the castle face a man who's doomed.
Padfoot's free... before the light of the moon.
Now we can't clear his name, and fate knows why,
But look at how your son flies.
I know you'd have proud tears to cry.

SIRIUS:
Well, I fulfilled my duties the other day,
Godfather, gave him a place to stay.
"They'd be proud of you. You know you look just like James."
Harry will win 'cause his heart's filled with your flame.
What I'd really like is just to leave my house again.
Harry's gone? I can save him then.

Here in the Department of Mysteries,
Harry verse' all the Death Eaters he sees.
Noble House of Black... Hearts. Bella might swoon,
But I think I'll see you soon, James.
I know I'm gonna see you soon.

REMUS:
I'm 'bout to retire, and Harry's moved away.
Hasn't talked much since he saved the day.
He said, "I'd like to have peace if you don't mind."
He's gone, think he's lost in himself most of the time.
You see, the end was a bloodbath; all the kids had to fight.
Of them all, thought Harry'd be all right.
Guess he lost more than friends that night.
And as I sit here today, it occurs to me,
We'd fin'lly failed Harry.
Just couldn't save Harry.

And the babe in the cradle was already doomed,
Before he'd ever met with You-Know-Who.
When will you see your son? I don't know when,
But we'll be together then, James.
You know we'll all be happy then.

Sirius Black

A filk by Nina Bottaccini and Mira Guattery to the tune of Paint it Black by the Rolling Stones

SCENE: HARRY mourns for Sirius

HARRY
I see a huge dog and I think its Sirius Black
I can hear Lupin howling from the Shrieking Shack
I see Snape walking by dressed in his billowing robes
I have to turn my head until my darkness goes.

I see a flock of thestrals, and they are so black
My parents both are dead and aren't coming back
I see everyone I care for getting blown away
And my scar keeps hurting - it just happens every day.

I had a godfather whose name was Sirius Black
I saw him in my dream and thought he was attacked
I went to rescue him, but it was a trick
Because of me, he was killed, by his cousin Bellatrix.

No more will my green eyes turn a deeper blue
I could not foresee this thing happening to you
If I look hard enough through that spooky door
Will you come back again, just like you were before?

I see a huge dog and I think its Sirius Black
I can hear Lupin howling from the Shrieking Shack
I see Snape walking by dressed in his billowing robes
I have to turn my head until my darkness goes.

(humming) I wanna see you Sirius,
Sirius Black!
Come Snuffles!
Come here boy!
I wanna see the Dark Mark,
blotted out from the sky!
I wanna see you Sirius, Sirius, Sirius
Sirius Black!
Yeah!

humming and barks

The Ballad of Sirius Black

A filk by Indigo Ziona to the tune of Rasputin by Boney M

There lived a cheeky boy in Hogwarts long ago
He would hang around with Moony, Prongs and Co.
Most people had such caution whenever he was near
But with his evil mother he had to live in fear
She's neurotic, what a pureblood preacher
Listen to her portrait moan
It's no wonder he fled from her and Kreacher
Went out on his own

Hey hey hey hey hey hey hey hey...

Sirius 'Padfoot' Black
Master of the prank attack
There was a dog that really was cool
Sirius 'Padfoot' Black
No style or finesse you lack
He was the greatest prankster in school

He stayed friends with James even after school was done
He even became Godfather to his son
As a Secret Keeper he pulled a switcheroo
But his smart trick didn't hinder You-Know-Who
What a shame that James had trusted Peter
Who laid the Dark Lord's welcome mat
He believed this wannabe Death Eater
Forgot he was a rat

Sirius 'Padfoot' Black
Master of the prank attack
Was sadly locked up in Azkaban
Sirius 'Padfoot' Black
Judge, jury and trial you lack
No-one knows you're an innocent man…

(Spoken:) But after being imprisoned on the charge of mass murder, this smart Animagus hoodwinked the Azkaban guards and is now roaming free… somewhere…

Hey hey hey hey hey hey hey hey
Hey hey hey hey hey hey hey hey

"Padfoot's in danger!" They knew from Harry's dream
But the Dark Lord's eye, it held a wicked gleam
Harry, you know, was not a great Occlumens
And Padfoot's pain had robbed him of his sense
Friends came with him on a rescue mission
It's a trap, they're not to blame
In the noble Gryffindor tradition
Padfoot did the same

Sirius 'Padfoot' Black
Please give that House Elf the sack
Your love for Harry will always prevail
Sirius 'Padfoot' Black
Victim of Lestrange attack
Her curse has thrown you through the veil

Sirius 'Padfoot' Black
Are you ever coming back?
We can't believe that you've really gone
Sirius 'Padfoot' Black
Master of the prank attack
We hope your spirit ever lives on…

(Spoken:) Oh, those Marauders...

Padfoot's Last Stand - The Ballad Of Sirius Black

A filk by Constance Vigilance to the tune of Growltiger's Last Stand from Lloyd Webber's Cats

The setting: A darkened stage, lights come up softly spotlighting LUPIN and Harry.

LUPIN:
Now, Padfoot was a bravo dog who travelled with the three
Along with Prongs and Wormtail, there was Moony - that was me.
On full moon nights in Hogsmeade we gallumped around the land
Rejoicing in the title of 'Marauder Merry Band'!

But those were wicked days with murders coming by the score,
And everybody dreaded a Dark Mark above the door.
James and Lily Potter hid behind a magic screen,
But their poor lives both ended in a blinding flash of green.

Peter the betrayer, Padfoot understood at last.
But when he went to find him, Peter caused a mighty blast.
A dozen muggles died that day, and Peter up and ran.
When the verdict came for Padfoot, it was life in Azkaban!

Woe to Peter Pettigrew, a friendship that went wrong.
Woe to the ratimagus that would always tag along.
Woe the fam'ly pet who goes to Egypt for the views.
And woe to any rat who gets his photo in the news!

No walls could keep our Padfoot in when vengeance is in store.
He headed out to Hogwarts school to settle up the score.
The Minister of Magic dispatched quick upon the trail
A posse of Dementors to bring Padfoot back to jail.

HARRY: (after a 2 bar intro)
It was in the Shrieking Shack I learned what Padfoot was to me
My father's dearest buddy and no criminal was he.
Godfather and godson we were - a family of two.
But first to take this rat away was what we had to do.

(1 bar intro)
Just then the forest moonlight ignited werewolf's curse
I conjured a Patronus to deflect Dementor thirst.
With Dumbledore to help us, Padfoot never asked what-if,
He flew away to freedom on a stolen Hippogriff.

But what the cost of freedom when you're always on the run?
You can never smell a flower, never see a summer sun?
Only once he ventured outward in his doggie-face disguise
But was spotted thus by Malfoy as we offered our goodbyes.

So Sirius was trapped inside the Black ancestral home
His head a little off from spending too much time alone.
Reduced to doing housework with his Mum behind the drape
And listening to insults coming from Professor Snape.

LUPIN:
I should have seen the tension building up from all the stress.
I should have seen the increase in the Padfoot recklessness.
But when we heard that the Voldemort had out-manuevered Harry
Death Eaters could expect in us a lethal adversary.

Spoken quickly over the sounds of battle:

Sirius and Moody, Tonks and Shacklebolt and me
We got there just as Malfoy almost had the prophecy.
The Order battled fiercely raining spell on deadly spell
But none could equal Sirius, the man released from Hell.

HARRY: (Sung over battle sounds)
Fourteen years of fury went along with each attack
A lifetime's worth of misery he now was giving back.
But the Order was outnumbered and the foe was quick and true.
First Moody was defeated and then Tonks was taken too.

LUPIN:
Bellatrix triumphant, she rushed back into the fray
For Padfoot it was blood feud - he would make his cousin pay
. She shot and missed, he spat a taunt, but then she shot once more.
A look of shock we saw as he fell backward through the door.

"Get him, save him!" Harry cried, "He's only just gone through!"
But when a man has crossed that way, there's nothing one can do.

The lights come up to show Luna watching from nearby

LUNA:
Harry, it is not so bad, don't look so sad and pale.
We'll see them all again, you see, the spirits of the veil.

I Will Remember You

A filk by GiNny of I Will Remember You by Sarah McLachlan

In memory of Sirius Black. For all those who mourn

SETTING: Harry Potter mourns his late godfather.....

HARRY:
I will remember you
And all you did for me.
Godfather and friend, goodbye.
Thank you for the memories.

Remember when they thought you were mad?
Those precious times when we sneaked 'round was all we had.
Moments we had at Hogsmeade with you in disguise.
How I wish they would have stopped then from spreading all those lies.

I will remember you
And all you did for me.
Godfather and friend, goodbye.
Thank you for the memories.

Wish you'll have a peaceful sleep.
I know that the wounds in your heart all run deep.
I know just how you felt back then, they cannot say one kind word.
Your mum's screaming 'till now, all that can be heard.

But I will remember you.
And all you did for me.
Godfather and friend, goodbye.
Thank you for the memories.

Wanna tell you I love you, you're someone I can't lose.
But what Fate's dealt us is something we can't choose.
You lived a life of pain, served the Order right.
You don't have to struggle now and you don't have to fight.

And I will remember you
And all you did for me.
Godfather and friend, goodbye.
Thank you for the memories.

And I will remember you
And all you did for me.
Godfather and friend, goodbye.
Thank you for the memories.
Thank you for the memories.

That Man Sirius Black

A filk by Richard to the tune of River of Dreams by Billy Joel.

HARRY:
In the middle of the night,
I go walking in my sleep,
From the Hogwart's bed,
To Department of Mysteries,

Y'know I was looking for something,
Something round and small,
Didn't know the reason why,
Cannot recall,

Oh-Even though I know the Dark Lord's hidin'
Down in a little town where I know nothing more,
I try to dream of a dark hallway so I can finally find what I was looking for…

In the middle of the night,
I go walking in my sleep,
Through the hallways of fear,
To Department of Mysteries.

Y'know I was searching for something,
Taken outta my soul,
Something I could never lose,
Somethin' embedded in my skull,

It's pretty hard to try and fight and think,
Now I'm tired and I don't want to fight anymore,
I try to remember what door to take, so I could find what it is, that I've been looking for…

In the middle of the night,
I go walking in my sleep,
Through a telephone booth,
To a building so deep,

Ya know I was possessed by something,
Something for someone to find,
Could only be freed
Through these hands of mine

In the middle of the night…

Not sure what else to do, God knows I need a spectacular plan,
By the time I'm gone and free we'll be a skippin' and walkin' to save a wizard man…

In the middle of the night,
I go walking in my sleep,
Through the Forbidden Forest,
To Department of Mysteries

We all live in the castle,
We all run in the same pack,
We all love
That man Sirius Black,

In the middle of the night…

Cursed and Pained

A filk by Richard to the tune of Fire and Rain by James Taylor

HARRY:
Just after the battle,
They let me know you were gone.
Soon as the plans they made put an end to you.
I woke up this morning, and I wrote down this song.
I'll always remember who to send it to.

(Chorus)
I've been cursed and I've been pained.
I've seen Quidditch games that I thought would never end.
I've seen lonely times when I could not find my friends.
But Luna Lovegood says that I'll see you again.

Won't you look down upon me Albus,
You gotta help me make a stand,
You've just got to see me through another day.
My head is aching and my mind is at end,
I won't make it any other way.

(Chorus)
I've been cursed and I've been pained.
I've seen Quidditch games that I thought would never end.
I've seen lonely times when I could not find my friends.
But Luna Lovegood says that I'll see you again.

I've been shutting my mind against Voldy's crimes,
My mind shuts out his voice.
No-one knows when the battle grows
It will kill off everyone.
But a thousand times with my wizarding kind
To talk battle plans to come.
Sweet dreams and find some peace: the second war's just begun.

(Chorus)
Ooohhhh, I've been cursed, and I've pained!
I've seen Quidditch games that I thought would never end!
I've seen lonely times when I could not find my friends!
But Luna Lovegood says that I'll see you Sirius…one more time again now…
She says I'll see you one more time again…
There's just a few things comin' my way this time around me now…
Says I'll see you…says I'll see you…
Behind the veil now…
Laa dumm da da dumm…
(Song fades and ends)

Sirius Black

A filk by Murasaki to the tune of Leader Of The Pack by The Shangri-Las

Hermione and Ron stand waiting for Harry as he leaves Dumbledore's office at the end of the 5th book. Harry comes in from the side.

HERMIONE (whispering to Ron):
Is Sirius really gone now?
RON:
Well, there's Harry. Let's ask him.
HERMIONE:
Harry, is that Sirius's mirror you're carrying?
HARRY:
Mmhmm.
RON:
Gee, it must be great having a godfather like Sirius. Are you going to stay with him this summer?
HARRY (sadly, after a pause): Uh-uh.
HERMIONE (trying to be sympathetic by reminiscing): Do you remember when we first met him?

HARRY:
We met him in the Shrieking Shack.
(to Ron) He was after Scabbers, that belonged to you--
Do you remember?

HERMIONE/RON:
Yes, we do.

HARRY:
I met my godfather, Sirius Black.

(Flying) motorbike revving noises.

HARRY:
The papers were always telling his tale.

HERMIONE/RON:
Tale, tale . . .

HARRY:
They said he murdered and escaped from jail.

HERMIONE/RON:
He had no trial so he didn't even deserve to be in jail.
Oooh . . .

HARRY:
They said he'd betrayed my dad.
But I knew it was really Peter who had.
I knew you were innocent, Sirius Black.

Motorbike revving noises.

Dumbledore told him to stay home.
He was stuck in old house so all alone.

HHERMIONE/RON:
Poor Sirius, stuck in his old house so all alone.
Oooh . . .

HARRY:
But I saw the Dark Lord torture him;
I didn't know it was only a vision.
I came to your rescue, Sirius Black.

Motorbike revving noises.

HERMIONE/RON: (beneath Harry, repeated):
Doo-doo-doo-doo, doo-doo doo-doo doo doo . . .

HARRY:
I showed up, and he wasn't there,
But soon after he came to fight.
We fought together, side by side,
Though Dumbledore begged he go.
And I knew why- he was too bold.

HERMIONE/RON:
Oh, no no no no no no . . .

Flashback of Sirius and Bellatrix dueling in the Department of Mysteries.

SIRIUS:
Come on, you can do better than that!

Flashes of light; Bellatrix's wild shrieks of laughter.

Cut back to Harry, pale and wide-eyed.

HARRY:
I felt so guilty; he'd died to save me.
I'd been the reason he'd broken free.
At school they don't even know.
I scream and I cry; Dumbledore's things I throw.
I'll never forget you, Sirius Black.

Motorbike revving noises.

HERMIONE/RON:
Oooh . . .

HARRY:
Sirius Black, oh, now he's gone.

HERMIONE/RON:
Gone, gone, gone, gone, gone, gone . . .

HARRY:
Sirius Black, oh, now he's gone.

HERMIONE/RON:
Oooh . . .
Sirius Black, oh, now he's gone.

HERMIONE/RON:
Gone, gone, gone, gone, gone, gone . . .

Be Careful What You Wish For

A filk by Mariner to the tune of Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah

SCENE: George's Tavern. A chorus of Sirius-lovers, dressed in deep mourning and somewhat tipsy, perform the song. Behind the bar, George provides musical accompaniment on a tin whistle.

Well, remember how for three years straight,
We checked the news for the release date?
We thought the wait might kill us if we'd let it.
We wished to know how Snape would spy,
We wished to know just who would die,
Be careful what you wish for, you may get it.

CHORUS:
You may get it,
You may get it,
You may get it,
So watch out!

We speculated day and night
About the death that was hard to write.
We said, "It must be Hagrid, yes, we'll bet it!"
We said, "Come on, Jo, hand it in!
To make us wait would be a sin."
Be careful what you wish for, you may get it.

CHORUS

So now we're gathered in this joint,
Debating if there was a point.
But either way, it's over, so why sweat it?
We wanted our suspense resolved,
We wanted the big mystery solved,
Be careful what you wish for, you may get it.

CHORUS (Repeat as music fades)

Goodbye Shaggy Padfoot

A filk by Pippin to the tune of Goodbye Ruby Tuesday

He would never stay where he belonged
Yesterdays don't matter on the run
While the sun is bright or in the darkest night
Padfoot goes where no one knows.

Goodbye, shaggy Padfoot
Who could hang a name on you
When you changed with every new day
Still we're gonna miss you

Don't question why he had to be so free
He'd tell you it's the only way to be
He just can't be chained to a life where nothing's gained
And nothing's lost, but such a cost

Goodbye, shaggy Padfoot
Who could hang a name on you
When you changed with every new day
Still we're gonna miss you

"There's no time to lose," we heard him say
Catch your dreams before they slip away
Dying all the time, lose your dreams and you
Will lose your mind, in life unkind

Goodbye shaggy Padfoot
Who could hang a name on you
When you changed with every new day
Still I'm gonna miss you

Goodbye Sirius Black

A filk by Alessandra C. to the tune of Candle in the Wind by Elton John

Goodbye Sirius Black,
May you ever live in our hearts.
You were unjustly sent to jail,
And regret tore you apart.
You've been hiding in the country,
With nobody to soothe your pain.
Now you belong to heaven,
Like the star that bears your name.

You had lived your life locked inside
Your cell at Azkaban.
Always thinking about Harry,
About James and Lily.
And Padfoot, you'll always be here
Around Hogwarts and Hogsmeade.
Your candle's burned out long before
It was meant to be.

A true friend we've lost,
These empty days without your smile.
Your life you've bravely offered
For the wizards' golden child.
And even though Harry tries,
Your death brings him to tears.
All our words cannot express
How much the Order owes to yeh.

You had lived your life locked inside
Your cell at Azkaban.
Always thinking about Harry,
About James and Lily.
And Padfoot, you'll always be here
Around Hogwarts and Hogsmeade.
Your candle's burned out long before
It was meant to be.

Goodbye Sirius Black,
May you ever live in our hearts.
You were unjustly sent to jail,
And regret tore you apart.
Goodbye Sirius Black
From your friends lost without your soul,
Who'll miss the warmth of your affection
More than you'll ever know.

You had lived your life locked inside
Your cell at Azkaban.
Always thinking about Harry,
About James and Lily.
And Padfoot, you'll always be here
Around Hogwarts and Hogsmeade.
Your candle's burned out long before
It was meant to be.

Good-bye to Sirius

A filk by Haggridd to the tune of Hard Candy Christmas from the Larry L. King, Peter Masterson and Carol Hall musical Best Little Whorehouse in Texas.

Hey, maybe it was his hair.
Hey, maybe his savoir faire,
Maybe the confidence,
Maybe the arrogance
Of Sirius Black.
Me, I want him back.

Maybe beyond the veil
Maybe he will prevail
Maybe, as I so yearn
Maybe he will return, be my delight.
Me, I'll be just

Quite delirious
Having to say "Good-bye" to Sirius
I'm barely getting through tomorrow
But still I won't let
Sorrow bring me way down

I'll be quite delirious
Having to say "Good-bye" to Sirius
I'm barely getting through tomorrow
But still I won't let
Sorrow bring me way down

Hey, maybe Flamel did loan
Padfoot the Sorcerer's Stone.
Maybe he then could boast
Maybe back as a ghost
My heart he'll haunt,
Me, it's what I want.

Maybe I'll go away
Maybe to THEORY BAY
Maybe I'll take a trip
Maybe find a new SHIP, new "Mr. Right".
And make him mine

Me, I'll be just
Quite delirious
Having to say "Good-bye" to Sirius.
I'm barely getting through tomorrow
But still I won't let
Sorrow bring me way down

I'll be quite delirious
Having to say "Good-bye" to Sirius.
I'm barely getting through tomorrow
But still I won't let
Sorrow bring me way down

Not Immortal

A filk by Murasaki to the tune of My Immortal by Evanescence

We're all so tried of seeing them:
Another fangirl site, an elegy to him.
His body never turned up,
Hence we all believe the jig is up.
Many of us suggest he's alive,
But he's just stuck behind that veil.

Remus said he was gone,
Nick told Harry he's moved on,
Yet still we won't accept the truth

When he died, we all shared so many tears.
When he died, it confirmed all of our greatest fears.
Some still mourn for him, though it's been a whole year.
Have you really died, Sirius?

He used to captivate us all,
Though to Snape he was rather mean.
Maybe we'll see him again in another Pensieve scene.
His face, it haunts
Harry's unpleasant dreams.
He can't reach him now,
And it's driving him, like us, insane.

Dumbledore said he was gone,
Luna said he waits beyond,
Yet still we won't except the truth:

When he died, we all shared so many tears.
When he died, it confirmed all of our greatest fears.
Some still mourn for him, though it's been a whole year.
Have you really died, Sirius?

We've tried so hard to keep
Believing you're not gone.
Even though Rowling's confirmed that
You have gone on to join Prongs . . .

When he died, we all shared so many tears.
When he died, it confirmed all of our greatest fears.
Some still mourn for him, though it's been a whole year.
Have you really died, Sirius?

No Fruits

A filk by Prankaholic to the tune of I'll Be There For You (aka the theme from Friends by The Rembrandts

Remus and Sirius has had a lot of spare time since they both has had difficulties with finding a job (convict and werewolf, ya know). So they have surfed 'round the internet and discovered lots of fanfiction, including them a couples and they are not too happy about it. You may wonder how they could read fics about themselves when those fics hasn't been written yet during their time. Magic, duh!

REMUS:
Some fic- authors says the two of us are gay
We're no queers, is that clear that we're not that way
SIRIUS:
Prisonguards and his lycantrophy
Is the only reason we've been forced to life in celibacy, and....

SIRIUS & REMUS:
We two are no fruits
And idea you can outrule
We two are no fruits
We have been just friends since school
We two are no fruits
Now you know it too

SIRIUS:
Is it 'cause he's soft and I'm a macho guy?
We've lived together for a short time, is that why?
REMUS:
This may sound like phobic thing to say
But one of us must be a girl if we are to go out some day, 'cause....

SIRIUS & REMUS:
We two are no fruits
And idea you can outrule
We two are no fruits
We have been just friends since school We two are no fruits
And now you know it too

So think before you judge us
There's nothing there between us
So we have not got kids like James, but he's not like us
Miss right will show up someday
And she will be a girl that someday
So remove your ship- fics someday
Hope we will face that someday soon
yeah

SIRIUS:
Prisonguards and his lycantrophy
Is the only reason we've been forced to life in celibacy, but....

SIRIUS & REMUS:
We two are no fruits
And idea you can outrule
We two are no fruits
We have been just friends since school
We two are no fruits
And now you know it too

We two are no fruits
And idea you can outrule
We two are no fruits
We have been just friends since school
We two are no fruits
Now you know it too
